Meet the Teachers

Shaykh Fazleabbas Kanji

Shaykh Fazleabbas Kanji is currently studying at the Islamic Seminary of Qum, completing his master’s program in Islamic Jurisprudence and Philosophy.
Prior to his hawza studies, he attained a master’s degree in Information Systems Engineering at Imperial College London and qualified as a Project Manager. Thereafter, he spent a year learning Arabic at the University of Damascus before joining the Hawza in Qum in 2013.
His primary interest alongside his hawza studies is in understanding and building a relationship with the Holy Qur’an. He teaches a number of classes online as well as in the hawza to try and bring the Holy Qur’an closer to the community.

Shaykh Yassir Rajabali

Shaykh Yassir Rajabali completed a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience at King’s College, London. He then moved to Qum at the age of 21 to join the Hawza and is currently writing his thesis for his Master’s degree.
He has a special interest in subjects like theology, logic and spirituality. Shaykh Yassir has been managing and teaching at various courses, workshops and camps. He loves being involved in discussion circles and loves a good coffee.
As one of the founders of Bab al-Ridha institute, which is a small hawzah and tabligh institute, he is currently managing the online and media department, alongside his studies and other tabligh activities.

Shaykh Miqdad Rajabali

Shaykh Miqdad Rajabali joined the Hawza in 2011, having completed a Bachelor’s in Pharmacology as well as an MPhil in Cancer Research at the University of Southampton. He is currently studying, teaching and writing his Master’s thesis on the topic of “The impact of role models on child upbringing”.
He is a founder of the Bab al-Ridha Institute and has been active in the field of tabligh. A father of 4, he loves board games, travelling, hiking… and ice cream!

Shaykh Imran Damani

Shaykh Imran Damani has been a student of the Hawza for 10 years and is currently completing his Master’s in Hadith Sciences.
Prior to his Hawza studies, he attained a BSc in Optometry, from Aston University in Birmingham.
He thoroughly enjoys linguistic exegesis, history and comparative Hadith and has been teaching at various levels for many years. It’s very difficult to sit in Shaykh Imran’s classes and not feel the passion to learn from the Hadith of the Ahulbayt (a)!
